The college offers five years MBBS course and one-year internship training in President Abdul Hamid Medical College as required by Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council leading to MBBS degree of the University of Dhaka. The academic session shall be from January each year or as suggested by the Government. MBBS course comprises of 5 Years, foil owed by logbook based rotatory internship for one year.

Pass Marks: Pass mark is 60%. The student shall have to pass written (MCQ+SAQ+formative), oral, practical and clinical examination separately & 85% of the total marks in each subject is considered Honor’s mark.

Internship Training

After passing final professional MBBS examination students have to enrol for one-year logbook based rotatory internship program. It is compulsory to complete internship Training Program designed by BMDC to get a permanent registration for doing independent practice.

The training is mainly designed to develop necessary skills and attitudes to deal with common health problems generally encountered in hospital and the community. This is structured and strictly supervised. The trainees will be entitled to appropriate subsistence allowance/honorarium. The internship training is compulsory and a pre-requisite for obtaining registration with Bangladesh Medical & Dental Council.

The training consists of:

  • 19 weeks of training in Medicine & allied subjects
  • 19 weeks of training in Surgery & allied subjects
  • 14 weeks training in Gynae & Obstetrics and Family Planning

Instructions for the students

  1. 1. Students are to carry their identity card while inside the college and hospital.
  2. 2. Students are advised to attend classes in clean and well-dressed clothes with White aprons.
  3. 3. Fashionable dress, cosmetics, untidy hair, slippers are discouraged in the college & hospital campus.
  4. 4. Rings and bangles impede the practical classes.
  5. 5. Smoking is forbidden in the college and hospital campus.
  6. 6. The environment should be kept clean. Students are advised to throw litters into the Waste bins.
  7. 7. Pasting of posters and Writing on the Walls of the college and hospital premises are prohibited. Those are considered as an act of indiscipline and offenders involved are liable to punishment.
  8. 8. Closing of college, hospital and department gates or doors and creating obstacles in the normal functioning is an act of gross indiscipline and students involved in such acts are liable to be expelled from the college.
  9. 9. All types of demonstrations, processions, shouting in the college and hospital premises are prohibited and students involved in these types of activities are liable to be expelled from the college.
  10. 10. Students must not misbehave with the staffs or employees of the college & hospital. Misbehaviour is an act of indiscipline and liable for punishment.
  11. 11. Students are expected to maintain the highest standard in their academic and private lives. Loss of moral and spiritual values or addiction to alcohol and narcotic drugs is punishable.
  12. 12. At the time of admission into the college, students and parents/guardians will have to sign a bond that students will abide by the rules and regulations of the college.
  13. 13. Every student shall have all the prescribed textbooks, dissecting instruments and medical equipment. The college will not supply these to the students.
  14. 14. In case of illness or other unavoidable reasons of non-attendance, a written statement from the parent/ guardian should be presented to the concerned ‘guide teacher & Head of the department, who in turn will submit it to the Principal for approval. In all cases -leave taken will be at the student’s own risk so far as the percentage of attendance is concerned and even medical certificate will not condone any deficiency in attendance.

15   Cost of loss/damage to college/hospital property is liable to be realized from the student who is found responsible for the same activity.

  1. 16. Political activities are not permitted in college.

Students Guidance/Counselling

To help and guide the students in academic matters like studies, examination, attendance and conduct batch students are placed under a teacher. Students are advised to meet their guide teacher whenever they require or asked by the teacher. Private tuition by faculty members is not allowed.

College Discipline

Students must observe strict discipline in the college. On disciplinary grounds the following penalties may be imposed on a student, depending on the nature of the offence.

  1. 1. Warning
  2. 2. Fines
  3. 3. Expulsion from hostel temporary or permanently.
  4. 4. Defer appearing examinations.
  5. 5. Expulsion from the college, temporary or permanently.
  6. 6. Any other punishment suggested Academic/Disciplinary council.

Penalty/penalties imposed on a student will be recorded in his/her Transcript/Testimonial. A student’s name may be removed from college register under the following circumstances:

  1. 1. Remaining absent from classes for more than 3 months without any information.
  2. 2. If the disciplinary ground on the advice of the Academic Council.
  3. 3. Non-payment of college dues within 3 months of the due date of payment.

Re-Admission regulation of Dhaka University

The Re-admission for First Professional MBBS group will be acceptable with the fresh batch within 3(three) years.

  1. 1. Re-admission for re-examination in first professional MBBS Examination is acceptable within two & a half years plus six months for a refresher course.
  2. 2. Re-admission for 2nd, 3rd & final Professional MBBS Examination will be acceptable within5 (five) year.

Re-Admission

If a student’s name is removed from the college register due to non-payment of dues or punishment or cancellation of studentship, he/she may be re-admitted provided he/ she pays full arrear dues and a fine of Tk. 10,000/- (Ten thousand) within 3 months of removal of the name from the register. If a student remains absent for more than three months but less than twelve months he/she may be re-admitted on the recommendation of the Academic Council on full payment of arrear dues plus a fine of Tk.12,500/- (twelve thousand five hundred). However, if a student remains absent for more than twelve months he/she will not be admitted into the college except on special permission from the Academic Council of the college.

Final Remark

The College aims at improving the systems of medical education and health care delivery with the present-day concept of medical education and training, which will have relevance to the need of the country. It is intended to bridge the gap between the need and resource for the development of health education, maternal and child welfare and other research to assist the government in its health.

Admission

Admission to the MBBS program for Bangladeshi Students

Admission to the program is highly competitive. Bangladeshi students will have to sit in a nation-wide written test. The admission criteria and the test are set and conducted by the Bangladesh Ministry of Health & Family Welfare and Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council (BMDC). Applications for the year will be invited by the Director of Medical Education, Government of Bangladesh. The admission test is organized and conducted by the Director of Medical Education for Government and Private Medical Colleges.

  • Eligibility to Sit in the Test

Candidates who passed SSC or equivalent examination in science group and HSC or equivalent examination in science group with Physics, Chemistry and Biology from any recognized board or University of Bangladesh and obtaining total GPA 9.0 with minimum GPA 4.0 either SSC or HSC and Biology with minimum GPA 4.0 in HSC are eligible to apply. Those who have passed ‘O’ and ‘A’ level or equivalent examinations having equivalent marks also eligible to apply with an equivalent certificate from Director of Medical Education, Mohakhali, Dhaka.

  • Application Procedure

Applications are to be submitted to the Medical College as per circular of the Director of Medical Education. A candidate who obtains a minimum of 40 out of 100 in the Test is eligible to apply in privet medical college and get admission according to the merit list.

  • Admission into the course

List of finally selected candidates is to be submitted to the Director of Medical Education and is to be approved by the governing body of the medical college. The finally selected candidates shall have to get admission by the announced date and time. Otherwise, their selection may be cancelled and the vacant place will be filled up by the candidates in the waiting list.

  • Bond / Undertaking

The candidates and their parents or guardians are required to sign bonds on non-judicial stamp regarding the terms and conditions of study, conduct and discipline during admission into the college. Formation of committee or association or union is not allowed. All types of demonstrations, processions and shouting in the college, hostel & hospital premises are prohibited and students involved in these types of activities are liable to be expelled from the college.

  • Expenses of Study

Tuition fees and all other fees payable at the time of admission will be notified in the college noticeboard. All payments are to be made in full at the time of admission. Monthly tuition fees, hostel dues and those made payable to the Medical College will be claimed.

  • Documents to be submitted by the candidate

 a. All enclosures must be attested by class-1 Government Gazetted Officer.

b. Photocopy of SSC & HSC/Equivalent examination Mark sheets/Academic Transcript.

c. Photocopy of SSC & HSC/Equivalent examination certificate/testimonial.

d. Four copies of recent passport size color photographs.

e. Nationality certificate from appropriate Authority.

f. A result sheet of admission test.

g. Photocopy of Admit card (Admission Test)

h. At the time of admission the original documents are to be submitted and will be retained by the college.

  • Stipend/Scholarship

The free studentship is available for 5% meritorious and financially insolvent students. Separate applications are to be submitted for this category. A separate committee formed by the govt. will finally select the appropriate candidates.

Admission to the Program for Foreign Students

  1. Equivalence of Foreign Degree

a. Must have passed qualifying examinations (HSC/VV level) or equivalent examination

b. SSC/’0′ level or equivalent examination passed in (2017/2018).

c. HSC/’A’ level or equivalent examination passed in (2019/2020).

d. As per govt rule and equivalency certificate of marks form director medicsl education DGHS.

  1. Application Form

Two (2) copies of duly filled application forms along with the following documents should be sent to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Dhaka

  • Copy of Passport.
  • Six (6) Passport size Photographs.
  • All Certificates duly attested by the competent authority, i. e. the Education Ministry of the respective country and also be authenticated by the respective Bangladesh Missions abroad/Foreign Missions based in Dhaka.
  1. Application Fee

Each application must attach with his/her application a non-refundable Demand Draft or Telegraphic Transfer (TT) of US$ 60.00 (sixty) payable to: “The Director, Medical Education and HMPD, DGHS, Mohakhali, Dhaka, Bangladesh”

  1. Application Process
    -> Only the applications processed through Bangladesh Missions abroad or through the Missions in Dhaka of respective countries will be considered for admission. Applications must reach the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka Within the application deadline, which will be published in the Websites of DGHS, Bangladesh  (www.dghs.gov.bd)  and  Consulate of  Bangladesh.
    -> Applications should be submitted in the prescribed form to be available from DGHS Website www.dghs.gov.bd). Attested copies of certificates and mark-sheets etc. have to be submitted along with the application. All certificates and marks-sheets must be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. No application will be accepted without attestation.
    -> To ensure citizenship of foreign students, attested copies of the passport must be submitted along with the application. The certificates/mark sheets and other testimonials need to be attested by the respective country’s education board/education ministry.
    -> Candidates interested in seeking admission in medical college, need to mention the name of President Abdul Hamid Medical College in their application.
    -> Successful applicants will have to produce all the original academic certificates and mark-sheets /transcripts during their admission.
    -> For Indian Student NEET Exam must Qualified.

  1. Any new Fees imposed by the Govt./VAT (if any) has to be borne by the student.
  2. For any session loss – yearly session charges, tuition fees, hostel charges and other charges (if any) shall be borne by the student.
  3. For any withdrawal/transfer within 10 days from the date of admission: USD 2,000.00 will be deducted; any withdrawal/transfer after 10 days from the date of admission: USD 6,000.00 will be deducted.
  4. Payment should be made through the only remittance to our Bank in favour of President Abdul Hamid Medical College
  5. Any changes in the admission rules should be followed according to the order of Govt. of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh.
